Join us to celebrate 140 years of Pullans!
Thursday 4th September. 17:00-19:30 (Walking Tours: 15.00 – 17:00)
In this special anniversary event, we will be taking a walking tour across 3 Pullans buildings: Apsley House, Brotherton House and the iconic Joseph’s Well. As we walk through the buildings, you’ll hear how their purpose has changed over the years, shaped by redevelopment and new construction.
After the tour, there will be a Q&A and drinks reception held in Joseph’s well, where we will discuss the legacy of this longstanding family business on Leeds’ landscape.
Bookings for the walking tour and Q&A / drinks reception are taken seperately, so don’t forget to register for both events if you’d like to attend both!
Information on the three featured buildings:
The walking tour can accomodate for up to 20 people.
Apsley House
Designed at the turn of the 20th century by noted architect George Carson, this listed former wholesale department store now provides high quality contemporary office space.
Only a few minutes walk from Leeds train station, Apsley House provides a total floor area of some 50,000 sq ft over 4 floors, floor plates up to 14,000 sq ft and benefiting from basement car parking with a provision of one space per 1,000 sq ft. Apsley House offers the charm and style of a heritage building with the quality and flexibility modern businesses require in a great location.
Brotherton House
The property designed in Art Deco style of the 1930’s to house philanthropist Lord Brotherton’s chemical business was not built until 1956. It was subsequently acquired and occupied by West Yorkshire Police as the Leeds Police Headquarters from 1962.
Brotherton House, purchased by Pullans during the recession in 2012 is now evolving through design, planning and construction phases for student accommodation with a partner, Study Inn Group; a highly experienced and successfully national student accommodation provider.
The conversion of Brotherton House to student accommodation (and construction of an adjacent, 15-storey building linked at ground floor, providing 350 student beds) is now complete. The accommodation was voted best student accommodation in Leeds on Student Crowd in 2024 and has facilities including a gym, spa facilities, yoga studio, cinema room and entertainment outlets including two bowling lanes.
Joseph’s Well
This blue plaque heritage building was originally built by clothing magnate Sir John Barran at the end of the 19th Century. Joseph’s Well has since then undergone many transformations and now offers high quality flexible office accommodation in a peaceful and well maintained environment, all within a short walk of Leeds City Centre and Leeds train station.
The building offers 150,000 sq ft of space with suites typically ranging from 150 sq ft to 5,000 sq ft on a single floor plate, benefiting from on-site car parking for over 300 cars. All open plan suites can be designed and fitted out to suit each occupiers’ needs, Joseph’s Well’s diverse range of suites allows for great flexibility and ease of expansion to larger space when needed. Additional meeting rooms and collaboration/breakout areas are available, as well as 24/7 access, bicycle storage and a dedicated customer service team.
