Leeds Civic Trust is thrilled to announce the celebration of our 60th anniversary in 2025, marking six decades of work in protecting and enhancing the built environment and supporting the city’s cultural heritage.
To commemorate this milestone, we’ll be hosting a series of events throughout the year, including:
- A special panel discussion at our AGM, reflecting on our first 200 blue plaques and future ambitions as it looks toward the next 200 plaques.
- The most extensive series of guided walks the Trust has ever organised in a single season looking at the city’s past, present and future.
- Six new blue plaques and the launch of a Blue Plaques Fund.
- A re-run of the popular Promised Land Exhibition at Kirkgate Market, showcasing original slides from the Leeds Development Corporation of Leeds 1988-1995.
- An oral histories project, where we’ll record the memories of people who have influenced the work of the trust over the last 60 years.
- Officially open the recently restored Bear Pit in Spring.
- To inspire the next generation the Trust is also launching a new Under-30s Membership category, making it easier for younger people to get involved with the Trust’s work and contribute to shaping the future of Leeds.
Leeds Civic Trust Director Martin Hamilton said: “Leeds Civic Trust was established in 1965 and whilst the city has changed over that time, our values have remained the same. We hope that our year of celebrations gives people an opportunity to find out more about our work and get involved.”
We are delighted to share our new logo for our 60th anniversary, designed by the talented Leeds based artist, Megan Dobbyn:

Image Description: The logo is a large ’60’. The six is plain blue. The ‘0’ is filled in with illustrations relating to our work, including a bus, a bear, an owl, Hibiscus Rising, the town hall, and Bridgewater Place. Waves are at the bottom of the logo. The colours are blue, green, orange, yellow, white and pink. The words ‘Leeds Civic Trust’ are curbved around the top of the ‘0’ in blue. Underneath the ’60’ are the words ‘years of shaping Leeds’ in orange.
