We’re delighted to announce our 212th blue plaque to commemorate Leeds Animation Workshop, Britain’s first women’s animation collective.
Friday 20 November. 13:30
Established in Leeds in 1978, Leeds Animation Workshop has produced over 50 short, animated documentary films that have been distributed internationally. Their animated films raise questions about often overlooked social and educational issues.
In Leeds, the Workshop has provided screenings and educational opportunities to introduce others to the field of animation.
The plaque will be unveiled on an easel, and later installed at 45 Bayswater Row, Harehills, LS8. This house was purchased in 1982 with a grant from the British Film Institute, and has been home to Leeds Animation Workshop ever since.
We look forward to celebrating the significant contribution of Leeds Animation Workshop to animation, education and social awareness.
