Doris Storey Blue Plaque Unveiling

Join us for our 208th Blue Plaque unveiling to honour Doris Storey!

Friday 6 March. 14:00-14:30

Join us for our 208th Blue Plaque unveiling to honour Doris Storey. Doris represented Great Britain at the 1936 Berlin Olympics and went on to win two gold medals at the 1938 Empire Games. She trained at York Road Baths while working at Burton’s Factory, often balancing her work with her swimming practice.

The unveiling will take place at York Road Baths, where Doris used to train. We hope you can join us in celebrating and honouring Doris Storey.

Please note that the ceremony will be held at the front of the building. The plaque will be displayed on an easel for the event and installed on the building later in the day.

Guests are welcome to use the toilets and car park at The Gym Group, where the unveiling will take place. Thank you to The Gym Group!

After the unveiling, tea and cake will be served at St Vincent’s café, around the corner from York Road Baths.

Tickets are free and open to all, but please register if you are attending, so we can appropriately manage crowds: CLICK HERE TO REGISTER
