Medieval Leeds

Walk the streets and yards of Leeds city centre to discover their medieval history and where their names come from.

Saturday 16 May. 11:00 – 12:30

Leeds is often thought of as a great Victorian city. But it had its beginnings in the Middle Ages, and it was then that the shape of what is now the city centre was established.

We shall be looking at how that came about, seeing what we can learn from the layout of the streets, the footprints of the buildings, and the origins of our street names.

Enjoy this walk around the streets of the city centre  with Professor Joyce Hill, and find out  how the medieval past of Leeds is still very much part of our present.

Tickets are £6 for Leeds Civic Trust members and £9 for non-members.
