Meet Alanah!

Alanah is our new Planning and Transport Administrator.

Alanah started working with us just a couple of weeks ago, but some members may recognise Alanah, as she has been a member of our volunteer Planning Committee for some time before joining us as a member of staff. We asked Alanah some questions so members can get to know her…

Welcome to the Trust, Alanah! It would be great to know a bit about you…

Hi! Thank you! I’m super excited to be working for the trust. Professionally speaking, I’m hoping to pave a career in the transport sector, especially here in Leeds to help improve the ways people can get about the city.

What about the Trust appealed to you? Were you already familiar with our work?

I think everything about the trust appealed to me. It’s almost like the beating heart of the city! It does some amazing work.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not at Wharf Street?

I mostly like to hang out with my partner and our cat in my downtime. Otherwise, I like going on little trips, walking, and I occasionally do a bit of photography. I should probably get a hobby so I can answer questions like these a bit better.

If you could invite three Blue Plaque recipients to a dinner party, who would they be and why, and in which of our buildings with a blue plaque would you host it?

I’d love to discuss the suffragette movement with Lenora Cohen & Isabella Ford, as well as have a chat with Louis Le Prince about his early film work in Leeds. I’d probably pick Temple Works as the dinner spot (ideally the redeveloped version) – it’s one of the best, and most interesting buildings in Leeds!

What’s something you love about Leeds?

I actually really like the flow that Leeds has as a pedestrian; everything is within a good distance and there’s a nice sense of space (city square, the Headrow, the canal). We have some really beautiful buildings too – I always take time to look up when I’m out. I also love how easy it is to access the countryside and greenery when you need it.

And lastly, something about Leeds you’d like to change?

The public transport system – it’s really letting Leeds down!
