Project Development Officer

The opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about sustainable transport to support a number of initiatives that will advance ideas included in Leeds Civic Trust’s Transport Vision. The main task is to support the delivery of a year-long project Imagine an Excellent Bus Service for Leeds through which the postholder will be responsible for co-ordinating “competition of ideas” which will explore peoples’ experience of bus services in Leeds and ideas for how public transport could be improved to meet their needs.

Other projects you may be involved in will include helping to take forward the outcomes of the recent Liveable Leeds competition to re-imagine the Eastside as a place of high-quality public spaces with pedestrian and cycle friendly priorities. Plans are also being progressed for a second Liveable Leeds competition along the lines of the Eastside project which will explore how the environment of Holbeck can be improved and the area better integrated with the rest of the South Bank, city centre and the Holbeck Urban Village. This project will be launched during the course of 2021.

A flexible appointment

We are seeking to employ someone for at least three days per week (or 21 hours equivalent), but will consider employing someone up to full time depending on the individual circumstances of the appointed candidate. It is expected that the Imagine an Excellent Bus Service for Leeds’ project will require 3 days work a week. Other duties supporting the Liveable Leeds competitions and other duties (such as organising webinars) would be included for a full time or near full time position. Salary for a full-time post is £23,000 or £15,333 for a three day equivalent post.

The post is available immediately on a fixed term basis for one year.
